Adding a border to an image in Gimp

A couple of years back I was asked how I put the borders in the images which I upload. Back then I used to do it the long-way. Soon after I had replied, explaining this long procedure, I found a much easier built-in option in Gimp, to do the same thing. Recently, I was asked the same thing again. So here is how to put a border in Gimp.

 (1) Open the image in Gimp

 (2) Under the "Filters" menu go to "Decor" and select "Add Border"

 (3) In the "Script-Fu: Add Border" window which will show up, you can select the border size (X-size and Y-size). I always set the "Delta" value equal to 1. For an explanation of this or any other item you can click on "Help"

(4)  You can click on the blue colored box to select the color you want for the border.

(5) Once you are done with all that, click on "Ok" and the border will be added. To clearly see the added border, just pull the main window of Gimp so that the complete image is contained inside the main window.

(6) Now you can save the image. I prefer using the "Save As" option in order to keep the original copy.

(7) When you try to save the image, Gimp will give a message saying "JPEG plug-in can't handle transparency" (I was saving it as a JPEG file). Click on "Export".
What does the message mean ? Well if you just want to add borders, you don't really need to know that.

(8) Finally Gimp will ask you one more question regarding "Quality". The default will be 100 (if not ,then set it to 100) and click on "Save", and you are done.

Here is the final image:
